Farage to name RAF veteran as Reform UK defence spokesman

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage is set to announce Angus MacIntyre, a retired RAF Wing Commander, as the party's armed forces spokesman during a press conference this afternoon.

MacIntyre, who ended a military career spanning 40 years to take up the role, said he had decided to answer what he described as a "call" from Farage, who has invited people from outside Westminster to join the party's senior ranks.

Career move

MacIntyre stood down from his RAF position to take on the Reform UK job. He said: "Earlier this year, Nigel said he wanted people from outside of politics with real-world experience to come and help Reform UK fix broken Britain."

He added: "Last week I ended a 40-year military career to answer that call."

The announcement follows Farage's efforts to bring individuals with practical experience into the party's leadership team, as Reform UK continues to build its platform ahead of future elections.
