Thomas Tuchel has kept 15 players from his first England squad for the upcoming Nations League matches, with 11 players from that original selection left out. The 26-man party was named for the quartet of Nations League games, beginning with world champions Spain's visit to Wembley on Saturday.
The original selection saw 11 changes from the squad Tuchel named for his first games in charge - the World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia in March last year - with 15 remaining from that group.
Injuries and retirements
Four of the players missing from that first squad are injured: Dean Henderson, Dan Burn, Reece James and Jordan Henderson. Kyle Walker has retired from international football, while others have been overlooked or fallen out of Tuchel's plans.
Aaron Ramsdale is now fourth-choice goalkeeper at Championship Southampton, while Jarrod Bowen has dropped out of the Premier League but could return if West Ham regain their top-flight status.
Defensive and midfield changes
In defence, Levi Colwill has missed out, with Jarrad Branthwaite preferred instead. Curtis Jones is not involved following a disappointing final season at Liverpool before his summer move to Inter Milan.
Phil Foden has again been left out following his World Cup snub, with Tuchel overloaded with options for the number 10 role. Dominic Solanke, not helped by Tottenham's continuing struggles, has missed out after scoring just once this season.
