Barron Trump made a rare public appearance at the World Cup final in New Jersey on Sunday, joining his father, former US President Donald Trump, and other family members to watch Spain defeat Argentina 1-0. The 20-year-old, who generally stays out of the limelight, was seen in a box at MetLife Stadium alongside world leaders and FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
President Trump praised his son's football knowledge, telling reporters, 'I get this information from my son. Barron is a tremendous soccer fan.' He credited Barron with keeping him updated on players to watch, including Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Barron, who played for DC United's academy aged 11, is currently studying at New York University's Stern School of Business in Washington DC.
Despite attending the match, Barron was absent from a family photo shared by his half-brother Eric Trump on Instagram, which featured siblings Ivanka, Donald Jr, and Tiffany, as well as Lara Trump. This is not unusual; he also missed Donald Jr's wedding in May. However, he has appeared at recent events such as the Freedom 250 UFC fight on the White House lawn in June and the State of the Union address in February.
A source told the Daily Mail that Barron 'has a bright future ahead of him' and 'is really starting to resemble his father'. His stepmother Lara Trump suggested on her podcast that his low profile fuels public interest, saying, 'That's why he likes to play it cool. That's why you don't see him all the time.'
