Arsenal are preparing to move quickly in the summer transfer window as they look to build on their Premier League title triumph. The Gunners aim to strengthen their squad to defend the domestic crown and compete for European honours.
Julian Alvarez Bid Launched
Barcelona have confirmed they submitted an £86.5 million bid for Julian Alvarez on Friday, despite questions over the approach. Atletico Madrid raised doubts over the weekend, but Barcelona insist the offer has been sent. The Argentina international, who previously spent two years at Manchester City, has Premier League experience, scoring 36 goals in 103 appearances for City. Since joining Atletico Madrid for £82 million in 2024, Alvarez has netted 49 times in two seasons. His goal threat and attacking versatility make him a prime target for top clubs.
Micah Richards' Transfer Advice
Pundit Micah Richards believes Arsenal need more than just Alvarez. Speaking on The Rest is Football, Richards said: "If they could get someone like Alvarez, it would just give them something different. He's one of the best strikers in world football." Richards agreed with Gary Lineker that Arsenal also need a left-sided player and a central midfielder. He noted that Christian Norgaard has worked well in midfield but suggested a more box-to-box option alongside Declan Rice to allow Martin Zubimendi to dictate play from deeper. "That, a new striker and another winger, they can compete for two, three, four years – that's how good I think they can be," Richards added.
