A long-standing British aerospace engineering firm based in Merseyside has entered administration, placing dozens of jobs at risk. North West Precision Limited, which began trading in 1977, was placed into administration on May 14, with administrators Steven Muncaster and Mike Dillon of Leonard Curtis appointed to oversee the process.
Company Background and Operations
The company specialises in manufacturing precision components for air, spacecraft, and related machinery. It operates two factories from Rock Ferry Industrial Estate in Birkenhead and has supplied major clients including Airbus, BAE Systems, and Hawker Beechcraft for over three decades. North West Precision describes itself as a family-owned British firm and employs a team of craftsmen specialising in batch manufacturing using advanced CAD/CAM techniques and CNC machines.
Recent History and Challenges
North West Precision was acquired by Arlington Aerospace in 2016 to enhance efficiency for customers. The business previously faced difficulties, with a related entity entering administration in 2010 before its assets were sold to form the current limited company in 2013. In 2023, it faced another insolvency scare that threatened around 60 jobs, though it continued trading until the latest appointment.
Administrators are now assessing the company's position and seeking to find a buyer or realise value from its assets and expertise in the competitive aerospace supply chain. The company's latest total exemption accounts, filed on June 9, 2025, for the year ending September 30, 2024, show debtors of £2.197 million, up from £1.773 million the previous year. Total assets rose to £991,734, compared with £614,383 in 2023. The accounts also indicate that the company employed an average of 66 staff during the year.
