Woman Sparks Resort Row by Removing Sunbed Towels After 8-Hour Reservation
Woman Removes Sunbed Towels After 8-Hour Reservation

A holidaymaker has sparked outrage at a resort after hogging a number of sunbeds without using them, but one woman decided to take matters into her own hands and it sure showed her.

The Incident at a Mexican Resort

A 28-year-old woman was left fuming when an 'entitled' holidaymaker reserved a series of sunbeds at their resort for eight hours. Annoyed by the lack of available sunbeds, she took matters into her own hands – and it sure showed the other hotel guest.

The incident, which occurred in a Mexican resort, kicked off when the holidaymaker spotted four deserted loungers with only towels placed on them. Admitting enough was enough, she decided to take action, leading to some conflict among the hotel guests.

Speaking on Reddit, she said: 'We were sitting on a bench watching four empty lounge chairs, they had towels on them but were empty. We went to breakfast and after a few hours, we came back – still empty. We figured these people had gone into town for the day.'

Confrontation Over Sunbeds

Fed up with the 'selfish' actions, the woman and her partner, 30, ultimately removed the towels and sat down to make use of the sunbeds. Yet conflict erupted when a woman came charging over two hours later, claiming they stole her 'reserved' loungers.

She added: 'A woman comes over extremely aggressive. Stated they were her chairs and she got up at 5am to claim them. I stated it's 3pm now and we've observed the lounges multiple times and you haven't used them all day and it's selfish [and] there is a no 'claim' policy.'

Her account of the confrontation ended with descriptions of a public outburst, as the entitled woman began hurling insults and yanking the loungers away while shouting obscenities. She explained how she and her partner ended up sharing a single sun lounger while the woman utilised her fourth chair purely for 'storage'.

The woman said: 'We ended up leaving not long after and after we left she continued to say "thank God the - enter expletive - has left". Has too much time passed since I stayed at a resort where I truly broke some unknown code that if you claim a chair with a towel it's yours all day even if you're not using it? Apologies for the rant, this just always infuriates me. Really takes the joy out of trying to enjoy your well-earned break by entitled p*****.'

Public Reaction

Responding to her post, one user said: 'You cannot reserve lounge chairs. I was in a similar situation, some group of 20+ people had the early riser reserve chairs by putting towels out. This annoyed me, as I too am an early riser, and was at the pool at 9am. So I sat my butt down, laid out the towel, got comfortable, ordered a drink, and waited until she was done and on her cell and out of site. I waited one hour, then I moved all her stuff and put it on a single lounger. Anyone asking if the chairs were available, was welcomed by me to sit and enjoy. Two hours later that b**** came back, and by this time, all the chairs were taken that she reserved. She was annoyed, I was gleeful and happy.'

Another user shared their own experience, commenting: 'Yeah, so this has been an issue for a few years now. Some resorts are putting up signs to say you can't reserve the lounges like that. It's not like there is a chair for every guest in the resort, find one when you need it or go a bit earlier... but reserving it from 5am is ridiculous.' They went on to say: 'One place I went, if they didn't see you use the chair for a while they would just go around collecting "dirty" towels. It also helps that they were resort towels, so no drama about "you took my towel". Also, anything like sunglasses they ask around, but then just take it to lost property.'
