Tina Mitchell, the wife of Irish singer Tommy Fleming, has broken her silence following the breakdown of their 20-year marriage and Fleming's public acknowledgment of his homosexuality. In an interview with the Irish Independent, Tina expressed deep regret, saying she 'regrets ever meeting him' and accusing him of stealing '24 years of my life'.
Tina described the emotional toll of the split, stating she has lost two stone in weight, her confidence, and her mental stability. 'I don't think I'd be here today if it wasn't for my family and friends,' she said. She also criticised Fleming for marrying her despite knowing his sexuality, adding, 'He shouldn't have stolen 24 years of my life.'
The couple separated last October after Fleming moved out following a row. Tina's daughter Rebecca confronted Fleming, asking if he was gay, to which he replied he 'might be bisexual'. The next day, Fleming returned seeking reconciliation, but Tina told him to leave. The couple's professional relationship has also ended, with Tina stepping down as director of TF Productions Ltd.
In a separate interview with Newstalk, Fleming publicly came out as gay, admitting he had been 'living a lie' for most of his life. He expressed remorse for the hurt caused but said he needed to tell the truth to survive. Gardaí are investigating the leak of an audio recording of a private conversation involving Fleming, Tina, and Rebecca, which touched on his sexuality, infidelity, and drug use.
