Police have confirmed that Stewart McLean, the 45-year-old actor best known for his role in Virgin River, may have been murdered. The announcement came on Friday, a week after he was last seen.

Disappearance and Investigation

McLean, who also appeared in popular TV series such as Supernatural and Arrow, was last seen on May 15 at his home in Lions Bay, British Columbia, Canada. He was reported missing to the Squamish RCMP on May 18. However, following the discovery of new evidence, the case has been escalated to a homicide investigation.

Police Statement

In a press release issued on May 21, Squamish RCMP stated: 'Squamish RCMP initiated an investigation and, through investigative efforts, uncovered evidence that led investigators to believe Mr. McLean was the victim of a homicide.' The statement further noted that on May 20, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the case. 'Squamish RCMP continues to work closely with IHIT and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) to advance the investigation,' the release added.

Authorities have not disclosed the nature of the evidence that led to the change in the investigation's status. No arrests have been made, and the police are appealing to the public for any information regarding McLean's whereabouts or activities prior to his disappearance.
