Virgin River actor Stewart McLean has been found dead after a week-long search, with his remains discovered on Friday. The 45-year-old Canadian star, also recognized for his roles in Supernatural and Arrow, was reported missing on May 15 from his home in Lions Bay, British Columbia.
Homicide Investigation Launched
Following the discovery of new evidence, authorities have reclassified McLean's disappearance as a homicide investigation. The actor's last known television appearance was in a 2026 episode of Netflix's Virgin River, where he played the character Barfly.
Family and Colleagues Pay Tribute
McLean's sister Kat expressed the family's grief in a heartfelt statement: "It is with great sadness that we share the loss of our dear younger brother, Stew. He was genuine, honest, caring, and funny as heck. We will miss him incredibly."
His talent agency remembered him as "dedicated, professional, eager, and endlessly funny," adding that he was "a truly great guy." His manager shared: "It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved client, Stew McLean. I was fortunate to have worked with Stew for more than 10 years. He was always such a pleasure to deal with - dedicated, professional, eager, and endlessly funny! Many casting directors have reached out to share their condolences with Stew’s family and with our agency, and every message says the same thing: what a truly great guy he was, and how deeply he will be missed. Rest in peace, Stew."
Authorities had previously stated they were "very concerned for Stewart's health and well-being" at the time of his disappearance. The investigation into his death continues.
