The National Crime Agency (NCA) and Spanish authorities have launched a fresh appeal to track down 12 of Britain's most-wanted suspects believed to be hiding in Spain. The list includes individuals wanted for murder, drug trafficking, and other serious crimes.
Among those sought is Nana Oppong, 41, wanted by Essex Police for the drive-by killing of grandfather Robert Powell, 50, who was shot eight times in June 2020. Oppong's last known address was in Newham, east London, and he has links to Marbella.
Another suspect is Michael Paul, 27, wanted by Greater Manchester Police in connection with the 2018 murder of Luke Graham and the attempted murder of Anton Verigotta. His last known address was in Openshaw, Manchester, and he has links to Spain and possibly Turkey.
The NCA's Steve Rodhouse warned that Spain is 'not a safe haven' for fugitives, who often continue offending while on the run. He urged anyone with information to come forward, noting that many suspects try to blend in with Spain's large British expat community.
The appeal follows the success of Operation Captura, which previously led to the arrests of 86 offenders. The full list of 12 suspects includes individuals wanted for drug smuggling, stabbings, and arson, with links to locations across Spain, including Madrid, Ibiza, Alicante, and Marbella.
