Donald Trump has attacked Democrat-led cities, claiming they all smell “disgusting” and are “filthy dirty”. The remarks came during an Oval Office event on Monday, August 3, ostensibly about a commission for military spouses.
Trump's criticism of blue cities
Speaking to reporters, Trump said: “But what else do they have in common? They’re all dirty. They’re filthy dirty. The streets are dirty. The streets smell. The storefronts are broken. The trees are all gross. Everything about the place is dirty. And I don’t want to mention any specific city. It’s really all of them. You go into these cities that are blue… they’re filthy and disgusting.”
Trump has frequently criticised California Governor Gavin Newsom, a prominent Democrat and often one of the Republican administration’s chief rivals.
Claims about Trump's smell
The tirade follows rumours last week that Trump smells of poo. Therapist Adam James alleged: “(I'm a) physical therapist with a doctor in my field, and 15 years' experience working in home healthcare, treating geriatric patients with dementia, heart failure, kidney disease, history of stroke and heart attack, and horrible incontinence. I have sources with knowledge of the situation that are DMing me on social media, telling me that nowadays you can smell Trump around the corner in the White House. His incontinence is that bad.”
These claims emerged after footage surfaced of a man grimacing while sitting behind Trump at a state funeral at Washington National Cathedral. Journalist Aaron Rupar sparked debate on X, writing: “Look at the guy behind Trump (who is asleep). It smells crazy back there.”
