Numerous court documents identifying associates of notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were made public on Wednesday. Some of the high-profile names include Prince Andrew, former US president Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, and David Copperfield.
The names were contained in court documents filed as part of Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre’s lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted in December 2021 of sex trafficking. Prior to the unsealing, the names were listed as variants of J Doe. Many had been publicly identified as Epstein associates before.
In a deposition, Maxwell said Prince Andrew visited Epstein’s island in the US Virgin Islands, but insisted there were no girls on the island at that time other than staff. Another deposition from Johanna Sjoberg, whom Maxwell allegedly procured for Epstein, included claims that Epstein said Clinton likes them young, referring to girls. Clinton’s spokesperson has denied knowledge of Epstein’s crimes.
Sjoberg also said she met Michael Jackson at Epstein’s Palm Beach mansion, and that David Copperfield attended dinner and performed magic tricks. Copperfield asked if she was aware that girls were getting paid to find other girls. Donald Trump, mentioned in the documents, is not accused of wrongdoing; Sjoberg said they visited one of his casinos when a storm diverted Epstein’s plane.
Sjoberg also recounted meeting Prince Andrew at Epstein’s New York home, where she was asked to retrieve a puppet of Prince Andrew from a closet. The inclusion of a name does not imply wrongdoing.
