The White House stated that the 79-year-old president attended a "scheduled appointment at his local dentist," yet no such event is listed on his official calendar.
This incident follows a series of bizarre messages on Truth Social earlier this week, where Trump boasted about his mental capacity. He wrote: "Anybody running for President or Vice President should be forced to take a Cognitive Examination prior to entering the Race. By doing so, we wouldn't be surprised at people like Barack 'Hussein' Obama, or Sleepy Joe Biden, getting 'ELECTED.' Our Country would be a much better place."
In the same post, Trump claimed he had "aced it all three times" and declared he had served as US president for three terms, a statement that would be unconstitutional. "I took the Exam three times during my ('THREE!') Terms as President, and ACED IT ALL THREE TIMES," Trump wrote. "An Achievement that, even on a single Exam, according to the Doctors, has rarely been done before."
Trump is believed to have completed the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), a test used to detect cognitive decline. Experts note that the assessment is deliberately simple for those in good health, yet challenging for anyone experiencing cognitive issues. Former clinical psychologist Dr John Gartner commented: "It's only an exam we actually give if we're suspecting someone might have cognitive decline, or sometimes we give it as part of a standard battery for people of a certain age. But the point is that it's not a test you ace, right? If you pass it, it means you don't have gross dementia. It doesn't even mean you don't have early dementia."
Trump reignited concerns about his wellbeing following a flurry of late-night social media posts yesterday evening. Beginning at 11:03 pm local time, the US president shared an AI-generated image of himself, JD Vance, and Marc Rubio paddling shirtless in the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. His burst of activity on Truth Social featured three more pictures of the Reflecting Pool, including one implying it appeared neglected during Barack Obama's presidency, and another depicting how it will look once current renovation works are finished.
