House Democrats have published a new tranche of photographs from the estate of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, showing figures including Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and Prince Andrew. The initial release of 19 images, some previously seen, was followed by an additional 70 later on Friday, representing a small fraction of nearly 100,000 images handed to the House oversight committee.
The committee is investigating Epstein’s conduct and connections. The disgraced financier died by apparent suicide in a New York jail in 2019 after being charged with sex-trafficking offences. Among those pictured in the first release are film director Woody Allen, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and Virgin Group founder Richard Branson.
The White House responded by accusing Democrats of selectively “cherry-picking” the photographs for political purposes “to try and create a false narrative”. A spokesperson, Abigail Jackson, called the release a “Democrat hoax” and insisted the Trump administration had done more for Epstein’s victims by calling for transparency and releasing thousands of pages of documents.
