Natalie Harp, described as "extremely close" to Donald Trump, was photographed sprinting behind his golf cart as he rode around his course in Scotland. The images, taken on 2 May 2023, show the 35-year-old executive assistant running uphill after the cart on the first day of his trip to Turnberry in Ayrshire.
Apology letter reveals embarrassment
In a letter published by US website the Daily Beast, Harp apologised for the incident, writing that she was sorry "if I was an embarrassment walking the course in Scotland". She added: "If there is anything else I have done to cause you trouble, please forgive me...I want things to always be right between us....you are all that matters to me. I don't want to ever let you down. Thank you for being my Guardian and Protector in this Life."
The pictures were released after other letters she sent him confessing her devotion were published. Harp is said to have frequently left "intimate" letters for him to find in his personal spaces, saying things like "You are all that matters to me," and "I don't ever want to let you down...I want to bring you joy."
Role as gatekeeper and 'human printer'
Harp, who is said to work seven days a week and never take a day off, is a permanent fixture outside the Oval Office. She is described as a gatekeeper to people seeking to meet the President and is said to have access to his communications and social media accounts, often helping him craft posts on Truth Social.
She is nicknamed the "human printer" because she frequently prints out and hands the President printouts of flattering news stories and cherry-picked poll numbers, acting as a "filter" for information reaching him. Questions have been swirling about her unusually close relationship with the US President, with reports saying she "never leaves his side".
Mentioned in Senate speech
Harp became a main character in Trumpworld last week when she was spoken about by Democrat Senator Jon Ossoff in a speech. He made a pointed remark about Trump choosing her to fly out of Turkey in his secret escape plane, after the threat of an Iranian assassination attempt forced him to abandon Air Force One.
Only Harp, two other aides and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth were on Trump's plane, while the travelling press corps and several cabinet members flew aboard the decoy Air Force One. In his speech, Ossoff said: "He doesn't want to do the job. He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenceless flying palace gifted by the emir of Qatar."
