Jessica Campbell, the NHL's first on-bench female assistant coach, has broken her silence after her departure from the Seattle Kraken was confirmed. The team announced on Thursday that Campbell would be leaving at the end of the season to explore other roles around the league.
Kraken general manager Jason Botterill expressed support for Campbell's decision, stating: 'We support her in this process. Jessica has been an important member of our coaching staff for the past four years, demonstrating deep knowledge and a unique ability to connect with and develop players. We respect her decision and believe strongly in her as a coach in this league.'
Campbell, who was promoted from the American Hockey League's Coachella Firebirds in 2024, shared a statement on her Instagram story: 'Thankful for this city, organization and our fans. You mean so much to me.'
Her departure marks the end of a historic tenure with the Kraken, where she broke barriers as a female coach in the NHL.
