During the Roast of Kevin Hart on Netflix, Tom Brady initially mocked the comedian's height before bringing up his alleged 2017 cheating scandal, leaving Hart red-faced. The former NFL quarterback, 48, took the stage at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on 10 May for the Netflix special. Brady first ridiculed Hart's stature, branding him a "hobbit," alluding to J.R.R. Tolkien's diminutive humanoid characters, and tossed him a child-sized Knicks jersey.
He then struck a nerve when he referenced the incident where Hart was unfaithful to his then-pregnant wife, Eniko Hart, in 2017, catching the comic completely off guard. This followed Hart's outburst at a barely recognisable wax figure in the trailer for the roast programme. Brady sarcastically remarked, "This won't take long. As I am a busy man. I do have a few words for you. Before I return to my affairs in Las Vegas. Oh Wait! I'm talking about affairs in Las Vegas! I'm not supposed to talk about affairs because of Vegas. Think I broke another rule!" he laughed and beamed at the roaring audience before wrapping up with, "Boy! Can I talk about it!"
The Roast of Kevin Hart was released on Netflix this Sunday. Viewers flocked to social media to applaud the footballer's roast, which left Hart utterly mortified. Following the savage dig, one viewer posted on X, "Tom Brady cooked Kevin Hart during the Roast of Kevin Hart on Netflix!" Another viewer commented, "That's exactly the kind of unexpected chaos that makes a roast unforgettable! Thank you, Tom Brady!" A third remarked, "He looks surprised! Tom said something he wasn't supposed to!" Despite the backing from viewers, the Netflix programme did attract some criticism, with one user commenting, "Roast is not funny at all. Show is trash."
Background of the Scandal
Brady was referring to Hart's deposition in Los Angeles Superior Court in August 2024. The Ride Along actor claimed to have slept with Montia Sabbag the morning after doing ecstasy. According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Hart alleged he was on ecstasy the night before he cheated on his then-pregnant wife, Eniko Hart, back in 2017. Hart's legal dispute over a breach-of-settlement with former friend Jonathan "J.T." Jackson, stemming from a 2017 sex-tape scandal, included a transcript of a September 2017 deposition in which Hart detailed the events of that evening.
In his own words, Hart accused his friend of pressuring him into taking a drug slipped into his drink, saying: "Because it's in my drink, I thought I'm fine. I'm fine with drinking. The night is good. As the night goes, I'm now with the girl, Montia Sabbag, at the end of the night, okay?" Following the emergence of extortion claims surrounding the sexually suggestive footage, Hart issued a public apology to his wife via Instagram, saying: "I made a bad error in judgment and I put myself in a bad environment where only bad things can happen and they did."
The Roast of Kevin Hart is available to stream on Netflix.
