A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a 15-year-old after a fight at a house party in Hackney spilled onto the street. The victim, Brayan David Saldarriaga from Haringey, was found with stab wounds in Poplar Close and was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency services' efforts.
The alleged attacker was arrested on Thursday and remains in custody, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement on Friday. Officers were called to the Mabley Green area shortly after 7.15pm on Monday following reports of a stabbing and disorder involving machete-wielding thugs.
Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, leading the investigation, said: 'Our thoughts remain with Brayan’s loved ones following this tragic incident. They have asked for privacy as they come to terms with Brayan’s death and we ask that their wishes are respected.'
She added: 'Our inquiries are continuing at pace, and officers have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the investigation. We understand the impact this incident has had on the local community. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to speak with one of our officers on patrol in the area this week.'
