Teenager Removed from Court for Undressing During Peter Kay Bomb Hoax Hearing

A teenager accused of a bomb hoax at a Peter Kay show had to be removed from court after he began stripping off during a video-link hearing. Omar Majed, 19, appeared at Birmingham Crown Court from HMP Brinsford charged with communicating false information to police.

The hearing was cut short when prison officers escorted Majed out of the room after he started to remove his prison-issue grey tracksuit bottoms. Judge Andrew Smith KC noted for the record that prison staff had understandably removed the defendant from the video hearing room.

Majed was not arraigned due to the need for psychiatric reports. He was remanded in custody until his next appearance on July 27. The incident occurred during a Peter Kay show at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham on May 1, part of his Better Late Than Never tour, which donates all proceeds to 12 cancer charities.

Kay, 52, was rushed off stage and the show was cancelled after an evacuation. West Midlands Police later said 'nothing suspicious was found' during searches of the venue, thanking the public for their cooperation.
