Taylor Swift is facing a wedding meltdown as she prepares to marry NFL star Travis Kelce, with sources revealing that her former close friend Blake Lively has not been invited. The decision comes amid a year-long fallout between the two, stemming from Lively's legal battle with actor Justin Baldoni.
An insider said: 'Even though it was Taylor's decision to end the friendship, it's still very painful. She and Blake were so close for so many years – so of course she misses her – and now here she is getting married and not even inviting Blake to her wedding. It's got to feel weird.' The source added that there is 'an element of guilt' as Swift is 'a very empathic person'.
The friendship, which began in 2015 and saw Swift become godmother to Lively's three daughters, reportedly ended last August after Lively's legal dispute with Baldoni. Swift was dragged into the drama after being named in Baldoni's lawsuit and served a subpoena. Text exchanges between Swift and Lively were unsealed in court filings, leading Swift to distance herself.
Insiders claim that most people in Swift's circle believe inviting Lively would be a mistake. 'It would become the main talking point and tie her wedding in with all that old drama,' the source said. 'They're telling her the healthiest thing is to keep moving forward instead of reopening old wounds.'
Swift and Kelce, who got engaged last August, are rumoured to wed on 3 July. The ceremony is expected to take place either at Swift's Rhode Island home or at Madison Square Garden in New York. Lively was notably absent from Swift's pre-wedding party in Rhode Island, suggesting she will not attend the wedding.
Despite the rift, the insider noted that Swift still cares for Lively. 'She misses Blake, she misses the friendship and she hates how ugly everything became,' they said. 'At the same time, she was deeply hurt by the way Blake handled this whole thing, she felt massively betrayed.'
