NYPD Blue star Sharon Lawrence turned heads at the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation's 2026 Gracie Awards Gala in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, looking ageless in a chic black gown. The 64-year-old actress wore a sleek dress with a ruffle on one shoulder, paired with a chunky necklace and delicate earrings, her blonde-brunette locks styled in voluminous waves.
Fans flooded the comments section after Lawrence shared photos from the event, with one writing, 'Smoke show, Sharon!' Another added, 'Stunning! Once a queen, always a queen!' A third declared her 'the most beautiful woman in that room!! Inside and out.'
Lawrence rose to fame as Assistant District Attorney Sylvia Costas on NYPD Blue from 1993 to 1999. She revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that the role was originally written for a man until showrunner Steven Bochco intervened. 'He saw that there needed to be more female professionals in that environment,' she said, adding that Sylvia was 'mature and still traditional and yet, powerful.'
After her character was killed off, Lawrence moved on to roles in Rizzoli & Isles, Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, and Shameless. Her most recent project is A Grand Ole Opry Christmas (2025), with upcoming films including Better Than Words, Imbalance, and The Innocent One.
Lawrence married Tom Apostle in 2002 at a Greek Orthodox church in Los Angeles—the same venue where her NYPD Blue character married Detective Andy Sipowicz.
