The first register of interests for the seventh Senedd has revealed a range of gifts, properties, and memberships declared by Members of the Senedd (MSs) elected on May 7. Among the disclosures are a £350 magnum of champagne, hospitality tickets to Championship football matches, and £750 worth of suits. Memberships of private members' clubs in London and Nairobi, as well as two Freemasons, have also been listed.
Requirements and Scope
Each MS is required to file a register of interests, disclosing financial and other interests that might "reasonably be thought to influence the conduct or actions of Members in the Senedd." This includes remunerated employment or directorships, gifts or material benefits, financial sponsorship, land and property, and shareholdings. The threshold for registering gifts, hospitality, or material benefits is over £305 (0.4% of a member's basic gross annual salary).
Conservative MS Declarations
Janet Finch-Saunders declared four commercial units in Conwy county with her spouse, and membership of Anglesey Yacht Club. Natasha Asghar works less than five hours a week for Unique Xavier, a property management company, and owns two residential properties in Newport worth over £76,380 each, plus a property in London. Paul Davies listed his spouse's employment at Coleg Ceredigion and memberships in several societies. Darren Millar is a director of two charities, a registered landlord of two properties, and a member of the National Club, a private members' club for Christians in London. Sam Rowlands declared his wife's role with Darren Millar and a governing body membership. Andrew RT Davies is employed by a family farming business receiving Welsh Government farm support, and owns farmland worth over £76,380. Peter Fox is a partner in a farming business receiving public funding, and owns a residential property in Bridgend.
Labour MS Declarations
Huw Irranca-Davies included his wife's roles at health boards and jointly owns a house and woodland in Swansea, with a rental property that ceased in May 2026. Shav Taj listed her husband's directorship and ownership of a property in Cathays for sale, and a flat in London. Huw Thomas referenced his former role as Cardiff council leader and a property for sale. Ken Skates has a family home in France occasionally rented out. Mike Hedges accepted four hospitality tickets from Swansea City AFC worth £400 for the 2025-26 season. Lynne Neagle listed her role as political and membership officer for The Cooperative Party.
Plaid Cymru Declarations
Rhun ap Iorwerth, the First Minister, is a director of two companies and owns a residential property through Paradwys Cyf, which raises over £7,638 in income. Delyth Jewell employs the uncle of fellow MS Niamh Salkeld as a full-time office manager. Lindsay Whittle attended a European Free Alliance conference in Spain with costs of £966 covered. Sioned Williams donated survey payments of up to £100 to a food bank. Mabon ap Gwynfor, the health minister, declared 10 acres of agricultural land worth over £76,380. Siân Gwenllian, the local government and housing minister, is part-owner of her late mother's house and gave £1,000 to Caernarfon Football Club. Heledd Fychan, the business manager and culture minister, declared her spouse's work for the WLGA and a property in Pontypridd.
Reform UK MS Declarations
John Clark received three lounge suits worth £750 as a gift from Bernard Jones. David Mills owns a farming business receiving Welsh Government subsidy and is a registered landlord of five rental properties. Dan Thomas owns two residential properties in London, one in Oxfordshire, one in Somerset, and a family home with four acres in Sardinia occasionally rented out, all worth over £76,380. Louise Emery is a director of Emery Farm Estates Ltd, a holding company with multiple subsidiaries, and is a registered landlord of five buy-to-let properties. Gareth Thomas received a £350 magnum of champagne from his dentist as a congratulatory gift. Gareth Beer is a director of Swansea Quality Lettings Ltd, self-employed in building maintenance, and owns five residential properties worth over £76,380.
Other Declarations
Jane Dodds, the sole Liberal Democrat MS, listed her spouse's role at Great Ormond Street Hospital and memberships including Greyhound Rescue Wales. Anthony Slaughter, Green Party leader, declared only his partner's self-employed role as a jewellery designer. Benjamin McKenna of Reform UK had nothing listed. Several MSs declared memberships in trade unions, voluntary roles, and family members employed in the Senedd.
