Secret Service Officer Arrested for Indecent Exposure at Miami Hotel

A US Secret Service officer has been arrested and placed on administrative leave after allegedly exposing himself and masturbating in front of guests at a Miami hotel.

John Spillman, 33, is accused of committing the offence at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport & Convention Center late on Sunday night, according to an arrest report obtained by WSVN.

Hotel guests told investigators they were in the lobby when Spillman began following them, forcing them to retreat to their rooms for safety. One guest reported that she and others were in 'fear for their lives'. The guests then saw Spillman masturbating next to their hotel room, prompting them to call security.

Spillman was found with his trousers lowered on the sixth floor and was taken into custody just after midnight on Monday. He is originally from Marble Falls, Texas, but is based in Washington, D.C. He was in South Florida as part of a security perimeter screening detail at Trump National Doral ahead of President Donald Trump's visit to the 2026 PGA Cadillac Championship. His assignment concluded on Sunday, and he was not working at the time of the incident.

Spillman appeared in bond court on Monday and remains in jail on a $1,000 bond. The Secret Service has placed him on administrative leave, and his return to work will depend on the outcome of criminal and internal investigations.

Richard Macauley, Chief of Police for the US Secret Service, said in a statement: 'The alleged conduct is unacceptable and stands in stark contrast to the professionalism and integrity that I demand of our personnel. This agency takes these matters with the utmost seriousness.'
