Viewers of Saturday Kitchen were left fuming after comedian Nish Kumar made a crude toilet joke during the show. The incident occurred when Kumar, appearing as a guest, made a remark that many found offensive and inappropriate for the morning slot.
The joke, which referenced bodily functions, sparked immediate backlash on social media, with viewers expressing their displeasure. One viewer tweeted, 'Not what I want to hear while eating my breakfast.' Another said, 'Saturday Kitchen used to be a family show, now it's just crude.'
This is not the first time Kumar has courted controversy with his comedy. His previous show, The Mash Report, was axed by the BBC in 2020, a decision the broadcaster described as 'difficult'. Kumar has since revived the show as Late Night Mash on Dave.
A BBC spokesperson declined to comment on the specific incident but reiterated that Saturday Kitchen aims to provide 'entertainment suitable for all audiences'. The show's producers are reportedly reviewing the segment to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
