Saturday Kitchen viewers fume over Nish Kumar's toilet joke

Saturday Kitchen viewers were left unimpressed after the programme opened with some toilet humour. The BBC show welcomed comedian Nish Kumar as a guest on Saturday, April 25, and he wasted no time in recounting a tale about an online troll that left many viewers decidedly unamused.

A number of fans of the cookery programme took to social media to voice their displeasure, branding it "not funny" and threatening to switch channels, reports the Express. Nish launched into his story after he was introduced by host Matt Tebbutt, saying: "I'll tell you what, somebody is not thrilled (about him being on the show) because when they put up on Instagram that I was doing this show, a man commented underneath it and said, 'I will not be watching.' Thanks for telling us. He said, 'Kumar is as funny as needing to' and he didn't use this word, 'defecate and running up the stairs and not making it to the toilet and having to change your carpet.' What I would say is, that's the funniest thing I've ever heard of in my life."

He continued: "If you need to take a dump and you're running but you don't make it to the toilet and you take either such an explosive dump that it destroys your carpet by transcending your trousers and pants, or you've run to the toilet already having taken your trousers and pants off, that's the greatest compliment you could ever give a comedian." "I'd love to be as funny as someone taking a dump," he said. "I aspire to being as funny as following through on a fart," he added, as Matt roared with laughter.

However, many viewers were far from impressed, with one sharing a meme on X that read: "That is not funny." "And it's a no from me," another person posted on the platform, formerly known as Twitter. "Lovely discussion to start a cooking show," remarked someone else, while another viewer observed: "Well I wasn't expecting two minutes of s*** talk from the off, things can only get worse!"

"Turning off Saturday Kitchen when they have Nish Kumar talking about (emoji)," stated one person. Someone else asked: "Can't you put a re run of Football Focus on now just for this episode today." "Switched off," declared another, as one fan interjected: "Snooker it is then." Another commented: "'Taking a dump' stories on a cooking programme is about as funny as root canal treatment without anaesthetic."

However, some viewers felt differently, with one maintaining they were "enjoying" the comedian's appearance on the programme. "Honestly, I'm loving Nish Kumar," remarked somebody else. Saturday Kitchen airs on BBC One.
