Mohamed Salah has been criticised by pundits after his latest comments about Liverpool manager Arne Slot. The Egyptian winger, who is expected to leave the club this summer, took to social media following Liverpool's 4-2 defeat at Aston Villa to criticise the team's playing style under Slot.
Salah called for Liverpool to return to the 'heavy metal' attacking football associated with former manager Jurgen Klopp, describing it as 'non-negotiable'. He also stated that Champions League qualification is the 'bare minimum' for the club, despite the team currently sitting outside the top four with one game remaining.
Jamie Carragher, the former Liverpool defender, labelled Salah 'selfish' for his outburst. Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher said: 'I told everybody something else would come before the end of the season. Liverpool have a really important week. It should be about Liverpool FC, not Salah FC.'
John Arne Riise, another former Liverpool player, also expressed frustration. 'It annoys me that Mohamed Salah couldn't at least wait until the season was finished before saying those things,' Riise told Bet Victor Online Casino. 'Everyone knows he's leaving, so why not just keep those opinions to yourself until the end?'
Salah had previously criticised Slot in December, claiming he had been 'thrown under the bus' after being dropped for a match against Leeds. The 32-year-old has scored 27 goals in all competitions this season but has been unable to prevent Liverpool's decline following their title win last year.
