Rylan Clark raised eyebrows during a live interview on ITV's This Morning on May 14, when he appeared to refer to himself as a 'married man'. The 37-year-old presenter, currently in Vienna for the Eurovision Song Contest, made the comment while discussing his behaviour at the event.
Chatting to hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley via video link, Rylan recalled a past conversation with King Charles. He said: 'I said it was my first single Eurovision back then... So yeah, I am behaving now. Look, I’m a married man, I’m very happy… I’ve not even been out this year.'
Ben quickly picked up on the slip, asking: 'Can we just go back, you just said you were a married man, Rylan. Has something happened while you’ve been in Vienna that you need to tell us?' Laughing, Rylan clarified: 'Not married, just very happy, very content. Living my fairground life.'
Rylan has been publicly dating fairground rides director Kennedy Bates since last year. His previous marriage to Dan Neal ended in divorce in 2021 after six years. Speaking recently on Kathy Burke's podcast, Rylan said he did not regret marrying Dan, but wished he had signed a prenuptial agreement.
The Eurovision final airs on Saturday, May 16 at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
