Rylan Clark has sparked confusion by referring to himself as a 'married man' - less than a year after going public with boyfriend Kennedy Bates, 47. The presenter, 37, and fellow Eurovision commentator Angela Scanlon, 42, appeared on Thursday's episode of This Morning via video call from Vienna.
Speaking to presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, Rylan briefly addressed his relationship status. Towards the end of the conversation, Cat asked him: 'I know the King was asking have you been well behaved. Are you keeping up that reputation, sir?'
Rylan replied: 'Listen, me and the King... when he came to Liverpool, he was asking "did you enjoy Turin?" I said it was my first single Eurovision back then, I said I'd been a bit naughty and he laughed. Then, I was at the palace after Eurovision, he was like, "Did you behave?", I went "What do you think?" and [he chuckled]. So yeah, I am behaving now. Look, I'm a married man, I'm very happy... I've not even been out this year. That's the God's honest truth.'
Ben queried: 'Can we just go back, you just said you were a married man, Rylan. Has something happened while you've been in Vienna that you need to tell us?' Laughing, Rylan responded: 'Not married, just very happy, very content. Living my fairground life.'
Rylan confirmed his relationship with Kennedy, the boss of Billy Bates & Sons funfair in Leicestershire, last August. In January, the loved-up pair took to Instagram with a slew of snaps from their 'perfect' trip to the Maldives. Rylan and Kennedy stayed at the lavish Adaaran Select Meedhupparu hotel and enjoyed cocktails on the beach while topping up their tans. Kennedy made his feelings clear as he drew a huge heart on Rylan's back in suncream before later holding hands as they took in the scenery.
The lovebirds could not wipe the smiles off their faces and swam together in the clear blue ocean ahead of joining a group of pals for dinner. Rylan captioned the post: 'Maldives. You were perfect. New year, new friends, new beginnings', to which Kennedy replied: 'A fantastic little holiday we had'. The Adaaran Select Meedhupparu is a swanky all-villa destination with six restaurants, gym, tennis court and spa.
Fans and famous friends were delighted to see Rylan so happy, five years after his divorce from ex Dan Neal. Rob Rinder said: 'This is the standard I had in mind for you' while Zoe Ball added: 'love this love for you Baby'. Craig David wrote: 'Love this' while Christine McGuinness posted: 'Love love love'.
Rylan had been married for six years before they divorced in 2021, after the TV star admitted he had cheated. He then announced his romance with Kennedy during an interview with Louis Theroux on his How To Be In Love podcast last year, which followed his journey to find love. Rylan said he had been 'blatant' about the romance, going on multiple public dates 'nobody noticed'. The pair have even discussed the possibility of having children, with Rylan telling Louis that both he and his new partner want to start a family.
