Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has publicly denied allegations of infidelity following his split from television presenter Maya Jama. The couple, who were together for approximately 18 months, parted ways several weeks ago.
In a statement released on social media, Dias described the cheating rumours as 'unacceptable', revealing that his 85-year-old grandfather had repeatedly asked him about the claims. 'That's where I draw the line on what's acceptable and what's not,' he wrote.
Dias emphasised that his relationship with Jama was built on mutual respect and that no line was ever crossed. He stated: 'I didn't cheat, nor did I ever have the intention or temptation to. I believe Maya deserves all the respect in the world.'
The defender also addressed the reasons for the breakup, saying they are private and have been handled maturely by both parties. He criticised the spread of false information for 'clickbait' and urged respect for both himself and Jama.
Sources close to the pair previously told The Sun that the relationship had reached a 'crossroads' due to their demanding careers, with Jama's filming schedule and Dias's focus on the World Cup leading to an amicable separation.
