The widow of former Arsenal star Jose Antonio Reyes has shared the last WhatsApp message she received from him hours before his tragic death. Reyes, 35, died in a car crash in June 2019 alongside his 23-year-old cousin Jonathan Reyes.
The message, sent at 7:43am on the day of his death, read: 'Good morning mommy I love you guys.' Reyes married Noelia Lopez in 2017 and the couple had two daughters. He also had a son from a previous relationship.
Reyes was part of Arsenal's Invincibles squad that won the Premier League in 2004. He later played for Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, winning multiple Europa League titles. His funeral was held in June 2019, where Lopez described him as the 'love of my life'.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who played with Reyes for Spain Under-21s, said: 'He was a fantastic character with a very special personality and had an incredible football talent.'
