Rayo Vallecano's Heartwarming Gesture for Scammed Fans Before Crystal Palace Final
Rayo Vallecano's Gesture for Scammed Fans Before Final

Rayo Vallecano are known for their humble roots and working-class background, and their supporters have travelled in numbers to Leipzig for the Conference League final against Crystal Palace. However, some fans fell victim to scammers who promised coach services but failed to deliver.

Players Step Up for Scammed Supporters

70-year-old season ticket holder Enrique and his son Raul were among those who lost significant money. But Rayo Vallecano players Sergio Camello, Andrei Ratiu, and Dani Cardenas stepped in, donating nearly £3000 to reimburse the affected fans.

Rayo president Raul Martin Presa called the club's journey to the final "the greatest achievement in Spanish sport in the last 50 years." The Madrid-based outfit, which only sells paper tickets, embodies its local working-class community.

Manager Inigo Perez's Perspective

Rayo Vallecano boss Inigo Perez, the youngest Spanish coach (38) to manage in a European final since Pep Guardiola in 2009, relishes the clash with Crystal Palace. "I think we share some footballing traits with Crystal Palace. The effort, the teamwork and for me, Crystal Palace is a dream opponent," he said.

Perez, who is expected to join Villarreal after the final, wants his players to focus on the game. "Tomorrow the players must replicate what they have done so far. As much as we want to talk about epic moments, it's just a football match."

Club's Challenges and Determination

Earlier this season, Rayo faced criticism over poor facilities, including an unplayable pitch and cold showers, which prompted players to urge investment. Lech Poznan also complained about poor lighting and basic hygiene at Vallecas Stadium. Despite these challenges, Perez's squad is driven by the prospect of a historic triumph.

Perez concluded: "We will try to give something back to the fans. We prioritise the team over individuals. We have a shared responsibility but the path to the trophy belongs mainly to them."
