Prime Video has issued a plea for fans of "The Summer I Turned Pretty" to respect the privacy of the cast and crew as filming for the feature film gets under way. In a statement on Instagram, the streaming service said that sharing locations and visiting the set disrupts production and raises "real safety concerns".
"We love the excitement, but sharing locations and visiting set disrupts filming and creates real safety concerns for our cast and crew," the statement read. "We're working hard to create a protected bubble to make the best movie possible. Please help us protect the magic of Cousins until it's ready to be shared."
The film recently began shooting in Wilmington, North Carolina, and will conclude the series. It stars Lola Tung, Christopher Barney and Gavin Casalegno. Jenny Han, author of the books, is directing and co-writing the screenplay with Sarah Kucserka. Han previously said: "There is another big milestone left in Belly's journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due."
Han and Kucserka were showrunners on season three, and both serve as executive producers alongside Karen Rosenfelt, Paul Lee, Hope Hartman and Mads Hansen of wiip. The production is a partnership between Amazon, MGM Studios and wiip.
