Charlotte Morgan, a custodial manager at HMP Highpoint in Suffolk, met her husband Dan while both worked at the prison. The couple, who married in January 2021 and have a son named Lewis, say they 'clicked' instantly when their paths crossed in February 2019.
Charlotte, 32, and Dan, 46, a prison officer, both joined the category C training and resettlement men's prison in 2018. Charlotte recalled telling a friend the night she met Dan: 'I think I've just met the man I'm going to marry.' They started dating in August 2019, and Charlotte bought a wedding dress that November, before Dan had proposed. He proposed on Christmas Day 2019.
Prior to joining the prison service, Dan worked as a plumber for 20 years, while Charlotte studied criminology at university. Charlotte said she knew she wanted to work within the justice system to 'help people'. The couple hope their story inspires others to join the prison service.
Their wedding was delayed from June 2020 to January 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Their son Lewis was born in the interim.
