Greater Manchester Police have released a new image of Salman Abedi, the bomber who attacked Manchester Arena on 22 May, showing him carrying a blue suitcase between 18 and 22 May. Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen him with the case, which is different from the one used in the attack.
Detective Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson of the North West Counter Terrorism Unit stressed that the case is not dangerous but urged the public to be cautious and contact police immediately on 999 if they see it. The 22-year-old visited the Wilmslow Road area and the city centre with the suitcase.
New CCTV footage has emerged appearing to show Abedi shopping at a convenience store close to the flat where he was hours before the bombing. Police are also searching a landfill site in Pilsworth near Bury, where investigators in white suits and blue helmets are raking through debris.
In total, 14 men are being questioned in connection with the investigation. Meanwhile, MI5 has launched a post-incident inquiry into how it dealt with warnings from the public about Abedi's extremist views, which were reported three times before the attack. Home Secretary Amber Rudd said it was right for MI5 to review its processes.
