Pep Guardiola has declared his full trust in Manchester City's hierarchy amid the ongoing investigation into over 115 charges of alleged financial impropriety. Speaking ahead of his final Premier League match in charge, a home clash against Aston Villa, the Catalan insisted he believes the club acted properly.
Guardiola will leave City after a decade that brought six Premier League titles, three FA Cups, five League Cups and the Champions League. A decision on the charges could come over the summer, with Enzo Maresca set to replace him in the dugout.
'There will be a resolution,' Guardiola said. 'I trust them, I trust them. Because I spoke with them and I trust how they behave and how they did. None of the staff, of the backroom staff or mainly the players and the manager were here. So it's a long, long time ago. And I trust the club.'
The 51-year-old will take up an ambassadorial role with City but has not ruled out a return to management in the future. 'For a while, I will not be manager,' he added. 'Honestly, I deserve to take a break.' A stand at the Etihad has been named after Guardiola following his unprecedented success.
