Penny Lancaster, the wife of rock legend Rod Stewart, has spoken out about the "disagreements" she experiences with her fellow panellists on ITV's Loose Women, amid ongoing speculation about tensions behind the scenes. The 55-year-old former model regularly appears on the daytime programme, with her most recent appearance coming last week after its planned hiatus.
Healthy Debates, Not Feuds
When tackling divisive subjects, the presenters frequently express contrasting viewpoints during the live show. However, Penny maintained that any passionate discussions stay in the studio and do not spill over afterwards. Speaking to Yours Magazine, she said: "We have disagreements on Loose Women but it's healthy. I think the beauty of it is our differing opinions about everything - it makes the show interesting." She added: "We don't fall out over it. We respect that we have different opinions and agree to disagree."
Support Through Menopause
Penny also praised some of her colleagues for supporting her through her menopause journey, which she found challenging to adapt to. Her comments come after claims from entertainment agent Melanie Blake, who alleged she had proof from a WhatsApp conversation where some panellists discussed others negatively.
Co-Stars Dismiss Tension Claims
Despite ongoing rumours, numerous stars from the show have dismissed suggestions of any tension. Denise Welch, in particular, has spoken candidly about the working environment. She previously said: "Just because we disagree, doesn't mean we're in a feud, which drives me mad." She added: "I have never, hand on heart, in 23 years, had an argument with anybody on that show. If we didn't have discussions and debate, it would be a very boring show."
Judi Love also revealed to OK! Magazine that she "gets on with everyone", stating: "We've built genuine friendships. It's always fun, always lively. The topics are wide-ranging. It's a space where I can be myself - not just as a comedian, but as a woman, a mother and a voice for the community."
Coleen Nolan's View
Regular panellist Coleen Nolan told Bang Showbiz: "There's no screaming matches behind the scenes. I think what happens is there is a core beginning of the week group and a core end of the week group. So, Mondays and Tuesdays are normally the same panel as are our Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays. We don't all socialise together 24/7. We all live in different parts of the country. But when we're at work, and whenever we happen to be lucky enough to socialise together, honestly, they're just like my sisters. So I've got my sisters that I used to perform with and now I've got my Loose Women sisters."
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12:30pm on ITV and ITVX.
