The Green Bay Packers have reportedly cancelled a scheduled player media availability hours after running back Josh Jacobs was arrested and charged with five counts of domestic violence. Packers podcaster Andy Herman reported the development, stating that only head coach Matt LaFleur would address the media. The Daily Mail has contacted the Packers to confirm this report.
Coach LaFleur's Response
When addressing the media, LaFleur said the team is 'going to let the process play out' and declined to provide further comment. The Packers issued a statement saying: 'We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs. As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment.'
Details of the Arrest
Jacobs turned himself into Wisconsin authorities on Tuesday and was booked into the Brown County Jail. He faces charges of battery-domestic abuse, criminal damage to property-domestic abuse, disorderly conduct-domestic abuse, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim. According to jail records, the strangulation and suffocation assault charge is at the felony level, while the other four are misdemeanors.
The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department stated that officers were dispatched to a disturbance complaint involving Jacobs on Saturday at approximately 8:37 am. The investigation led to his arrest on May 26, 2026. The department noted that the investigation remains active and ongoing.
Jacobs' Denial and Legal Representation
Jacobs denied the allegations through his attorneys, David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld, and Clarence Duchac, who said: 'Josh vehemently denies the allegations, and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public. We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course.'
NFL Involvement and Background
The NFL stated they are 'aware of the report' and have 'been in contact with the club'. Jacobs, who turned 28 in February, has spent two seasons with the Packers after being drafted by the Raiders in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year, $48 million deal with Green Bay in March 2024. In the 2025 season, he recorded 234 carries for 929 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, along with 36 receptions for 282 yards and a touchdown.
In February, Jacobs sparked dating rumors with influencer and OnlyFans model Ash Kash after sharing a video of them holding hands on a beach. Neither party commented on the rumors.
