Fresh allegations have emerged against Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, with a dozen former schoolmates at Dulwich College accusing him of racist and antisemitic behaviour during his teenage years. Among them is Bafta-winning director Peter Ettedgui, who recalls Farage saying “Hitler was right” and simulating gas chamber sounds.
Ettedgui, now 61, described the abuse as “deeply shocking” and said it left lasting scars. He and other former pupils claim Farage used racial slurs such as “Paki” and “Wog”, and told classmates to “go home”. Some contemporaries, however, remember him as bumptious and provocative but not racist.
The allegations come as Farage’s party leads in opinion polls, with some ex-pupils expressing concern over his lack of contrition. In legal letters to the Guardian, Farage has emphatically denied any racist or antisemitic remarks, and his spokesperson questioned the lack of contemporaneous evidence from nearly 50 years ago.
Ettedgui urged Farage to show moral clarity and apologise, saying the memory of the abuse resurfaces whenever Farage speaks on immigration. “I’d like to know why he’s never owned up or shown the slightest contrition,” he said.
