Nicole Kidman has faced criticism from fans after sharing a Mother’s Day Instagram post that featured only two of her four children. The Oscar-winning actress posted a throwback photo with daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15, whom she shares with ex-husband Keith Urban.
The image showed the trio in desert scenery, with Kidman piggybacking one girl and bending to talk to the other. She captioned it: 'To my beautiful girls, the greatest joy is being your mother. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers in the world.'
Fans quickly noted the absence of her older children, Bella, 33, and Connor, 31, whom Kidman adopted during her marriage to Tom Cruise. The couple divorced in 2001, and the children reportedly grew up primarily with Cruise.
While some followers wished Kidman a happy Mother’s Day, others questioned the omission. Comments included: 'What about your adopted kids?' and 'I thought you had 4 kids!' However, defenders pointed out that Bella and Connor have 'made it very clear they do not want to be mentioned on public posts at all.'
Kidman has previously spoken about her desire for a large family, telling Marie Claire Australia in 2021 that she 'would’ve loved 10 kids.' She also said of her marriage to Cruise: 'It got me Bella and Connor and I did have a fantastic marriage for a long period.' Both older children have largely stayed out of the spotlight, with Bella working as a graphic designer and Connor reportedly living in a Scientology community in Florida.
