The National Lottery has apologised after a technical fault halted the live broadcast of Saturday night's Lotto draw, which had a quadruple rollover jackpot of £10.5 million up for grabs. The draw, which usually takes place at 8pm on the official website, was cut short after five numbers were drawn.
The first five numbers drawn were 4, 9, 28, 40, 42 and 59, but the stream stopped before the Bonus Ball could be drawn. A message appeared on screen stating: 'Due to a technical fault we cannot stream this live draw. Please check National-Lottery.co.uk later for the draw results.'
The Thunderball draw, which had a £500,000 jackpot, was broadcast but around 20 minutes late at 8.35pm. Its winning numbers were 9, 11, 13, 28, 34 and the Thunderball was 13.
Operator Allwyn issued a statement explaining that the bonus ball did not drop during the Lotto draw, prompting a pause. It said the draw will be rerun as soon as possible using an alternative machine under the supervision of an independent adjudicator, with verified results to be published later on the National Lottery website. The company apologised for the delay.
