Mother Renames Son After Tattoo Misspelling
Mother Renames Son After Tattoo Misspelling

A Swedish mother has legally changed her five-year-old son's name from Kevin to Kelvin after a tattoo of his name was misspelled. The woman, who wishes to be known only as Johanna, had the names Kevin and Nova tattooed on her arm but only noticed the error while travelling home.

Johanna told the BBC that the mistake was not immediately obvious because the text was upside-down from her perspective. It was only when her cousin took a photograph that she realised the tattoo read 'Kelvin' instead of 'Kevin'. She returned to the studio, where staff suggested laser removal, but the process would have taken up to a year.

After considering her options, Johanna decided to change her son's name to Kelvin. She now plans to have a tattoo of her newborn daughter Freya's name, but says she will write it down and check it '10,000 times' to avoid further errors.
