This year's Met Gala saw a wave of female celebrities walking the red carpet without their famous partners, sparking speculation that having a boyfriend or husband is now considered 'embarrassing'. The event, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, followed the theme 'Fashion is Art'.
Among those attending solo were Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Zoë Kravitz, despite expectations that they would be accompanied by their high-profile partners. Kylie Jenner, 28, arrived alone in a Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown, while her boyfriend Timothée Chalamet, 30, chose to watch a basketball game instead. This is the second year Chalamet has skipped the gala for a sports event.
Zoë Kravitz, 37, also attended without Harry Styles, 32, amid engagement rumours. She kept her hands in the pockets of her Saint Laurent gown, seemingly hiding any ring. Styles was reportedly busy preparing for his upcoming residency tour.
Gigi Hadid, 31, walked the carpet solo, while her ex Zayn Malik, 33, has been reportedly banned from the guest list after previously criticising the event. Hadid mentioned her current partner Bradley Cooper, 51, in a Vogue interview, but he did not attend.
Despite the solo trend, some couples did appear together, including Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, and Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster, who made their red carpet debut.
