Meghan McCain has disclosed that Donald Trump extended an olive branch to her following a prolonged public feud over her late father, Senator John McCain. The former 'The View' host recounted the gesture during an episode of her podcast 'Citizen McCain'.
McCain, 41, said that Trump granted her permission to attend Tulsi Gabbard's confirmation hearing at the White House. Behind-the-scenes discussions had taken place about whether it would be appropriate for her to attend, given her history of criticising the president.
She revealed that she ultimately required Trump's approval, and that he responded with a particularly kind message. The move marked a significant thaw in relations after years of McCain hitting back at what she called the president's 'pathetic' attacks on her father.
