Meghan Markle has faced criticism after sending a gift package from her lifestyle brand, As Ever, to a prominent online supporter known for attacking royal critics. The recipient, John Tyron, who operates under the handle The Notorious JTB, shared a video on Tuesday revealing the gift, which included a handwritten note from the Duchess of Sussex.
Tyron, who has over 190,000 Instagram followers and 150,000 on TikTok, is widely associated with the so-called Sussex Squad, a group of passionate online defenders of Meghan and Prince Harry. In his video, he expressed gratitude, saying: “The Duchess sent me a gift. This was not on my 2026 Bingo card. Wow.” He added: “Grateful. Humbled. Smiling from ear to ear.”
The gift has drawn backlash due to Tyron’s history of posting critical comments about the Royal Family. In February, he criticised the Prince and Princess of Wales for their response to renewed scrutiny over Prince Andrew, calling them “future king & queen. Zero backbone.” He has also posted videos attacking the royals’ handling of the Epstein controversy.
Critics accused Meghan of endorsing online bullying. One X user wrote: “For years, Meghan has claimed she doesn’t read social media… Yet somehow she managed to find one of the most hateful anti-Royal Family accounts… This confirms what many suspected: Meghan knows exactly who is attacking William, Catherine, Charles, Camilla and the Royal Family on her behalf.” Another added: “She is getting so desperate, she is not even hiding anymore that she is indeed in touch with those vile accounts that abused and bullied Catherine.”
The controversy also spread to Reddit, where one commenter said: “The irony is that he does this all on social media… the same toxic social media that Meghan pontificates about? … Meghan - hypocrite extraordinaire has sent her most toxic sugars a gift.”
