A 39-year-old man has been charged after allegedly threatening Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor near his new residence on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

Incident details

The former Duke of York was walking his dogs when the alleged incident occurred in the village of Wolferton shortly after 7.30pm on Wednesday, according to reports. It is understood that Andrew was left shaken by the encounter but did not sustain any physical injuries.

Alex Jenkinson, aged 39 and from Stowmarket in Suffolk, has been charged with two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour intended to harass someone or cause alarm or distress. He has also been charged with failing to provide a specimen of blood while in custody.

Legal proceedings

Jenkinson remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Friday. Police have not released further details about the nature of the alleged threats or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Sandringham Estate, located in Norfolk, has been Andrew’s primary residence since he stepped back from royal duties. The estate is also a popular tourist attraction, though access to certain areas is restricted.
