Married At First Sight's Scott McCristal Covers Up Gia Fleur Matching Tattoo with Eagle
MAFS' Scott McCristal Covers Up Gia Fleur Tattoo with Eagle

Married At First Sight's Scott McCristal has definitively moved on from his failed relationship with Gia Fleur. Before their romance soured, the couple had declared themselves the 'strongest couple' and commemorated this with matching tattoos.

The Original Tattoo

During the show's Feedback Week, just four weeks into the experiment, Scott and Gia had barbed wire love hearts with the number 13 in the middle tattooed on their ankles.

The Cover-Up

Scott took to Instagram last week to reveal new artwork covering up his matching Gia tattoo. He posted a clip that began with happier times, showing Scott and Gia flaunting their loved-up artwork at a commitment ceremony. The clip then cut to the present day, with Scott eager to erase the memory of his former bride.

'Today's a little bit different so come and spend the day with me and let's see what we can do with this tattoo, shall we?' he said. The clip showed Scott working out in the gym before heading to the office. He then visited Minamoto Tattoo on the Gold Coast to have the offending ink replaced.

Tattooist Nicky D worked his magic, completely replacing the barbed wire love heart with a large grey wash eagle. Scott was clearly delighted with the cover-up, telling his tattooist: 'I'll tell you what, sometimes we all make mistakes.' Nicky replied: 'You're lucky you know someone who knows how to cover things up,' to which Scott said: 'You wouldn't know it if you read about it.'

The clip also included controversial bride Bec Zachariah's reaction to Scott and Gia's ostentatious display of love. With stunning foresight, Bec declared: 'Matching tattoos that they're going to be lasering off in 12 months' time anyway.'

Symbolism of the New Tattoo

Captioning the clip, Scott said his new tattoo represented freedom. 'How to make a tattoo look even better,' he wrote. 'Thanks to my bro @nickydtattoo who not only did my whole back but did the best cover-up @minamoto.tattoo.' He continued: 'This eagle represents something for me. I got it for freedom, living life on my own terms and not being controlled.'

The post received many comments from friends and followers, including MAFS bride Stella Mickunaite, who counselled Scott about Gia during Partner Swap Week. 'Deaaaad,' she wrote, with a crying laughing emoji. Scott replied with laughing emojis.

Others showed their support with comments like: 'The best cover-up ever. Love the eagle looks sick! Keep smiling Scotty.' Another follower said: 'We all knew it was coming. Good for you to see you're moving forward.'

Gia's Recent Comments

This comes after Gia appeared in a TikTok live group chat with her best friend Wil Thompson and intruder groom Chris Robinson, where Scott was trashed mercilessly. Wil called the groom a 'd***nob', a description Gia seemed pleased with. Wil also made unkind remarks about the partners of Scott's brothers and discussed footage filmed for MAFS that never aired. He asked Scott about children, his bank account, and even 'what condom size [he used]', calling them 'outrageous questions'.

Gia has often criticised her MAFS groom since leaving the experiment. Last month, she shared a lengthy clip claiming Scott could not 'read, write or spell'.
