Gia Fleur, one of the most controversial brides on Married At First Sight Australia 2026, has broken her silence on rumours that she lost her job as a nurse due to her behaviour on the show. Speaking on Australia's 'The Villain Edit' podcast, Gia revealed she was not working as a nurse when she applied for MAFS and had not been in that career for years.
On the show, Gia's occupation was listed as a 'Disability Support Worker', but she claimed she had not worked in that role for around six years. Instead, she was working as a property developer, flipping houses, at the time of applying. She suggested the show chose to use the disability support title because it 'didn't look good' to list her as a property developer.
Gia's controversial behaviour on the show, including her actions at dinner parties and her strained relationship with husband Scott McCristal, led to her being labelled a 'villain' by viewers. However, she has now clarified that she did not lose her job as a result of her on-screen antics.
In contrast, fellow MAFS bride Bec was not so fortunate. Bec, who worked as an Account Manager, revealed that her employer suggested she not return after her 'abhorrent behaviour' at a dinner party was aired. She was subsequently dismissed from her role, leaving her feeling 'pretty much unemployable'.
