Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan has criticised a parent who leaked confidential whiteboard notes detailing the strengths and weaknesses of Essendon players. The notes were posted on a Bombers supporter Facebook group before the Lions' 64-point victory on Saturday.
The leaked information included descriptions of Essendon players, with Zach Merrett and Kyle Langford labelled “selfish”, Ben McKay noted for “low confidence”, Andrew McGrath’s weakness as “kicking cough up”, and Sam Durham called a “hot head”. Former Lion Jaxon Prior’s only listed strength was “Bronte”, his partner’s name.
Fagan expressed disappointment, calling the leaker a “hero” for sharing private information. “Somebody illegally took photos of information that was on a whiteboard and then decided to make a hero of themselves,” he said. “I think that’s really disappointing.”
The coach said the incident may make the club reconsider allowing external access to their Brighton Homes Arena facilities. “We go out of our way to bring the community into our football club… for someone to do that, it’s really disappointing,” Fagan added.
Essendon coach Brad Scott was unfazed, stating the practice of listing strengths and weaknesses is common and a matter for Brisbane to handle.
