US comedian Laura Clery has described how she nearly died after a 600lb fridge fell on her at home, pinning her to the floor and leaving her struggling to breathe. The incident occurred while she was alone with her two young children, Alfie, seven, and Poppy, five.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, Clery said she saw her son climbing on the wall-mounted fridge and noticed it shift. She attempted to push it back into place, but it fell on top of her. 'I couldn't move. Couldn't breathe right. It was impossible to get off and I could feel myself losing consciousness,' she wrote.
Clery described the experience as the 'most terrifying night of my life as a single mom' and said she thought, 'This is the dumbest way anyone has ever died.' Fortunately, she had her phone in her pocket and was able to call 911. Firefighters arrived and lifted the fridge off her.
Clery, who was previously married to British record producer Stephen Hilton, is now back home and recovering. She shared the story on Patreon as well, detailing the ordeal and expressing gratitude for the emergency responders who saved her.
