KSI has announced his departure from YouTube group The Sidemen, hours after appearing as a judge on the Britain's Got Talent finale. The 32-year-old, real name Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji, confirmed the decision in an emotional video posted on 31 May, describing it as 'painful' but necessary.
Explaining his reasons, KSI said he felt 'pulled in many directions' and had lost balance in his life. 'I've found it hard to make enough time for myself, my family and the people I love,' he stated. 'The Sidemen deserve somebody who can give 100%, and right now I know I can't do that.'
The Sidemen, also comprising Vikram Barn, Joshua Bradley, Simon Minter, Tobi Brown, Harry Lewis and Ethan Payne, formed over a decade ago and rose to fame through gaming videos. Their content now attracts millions, and in 2024 they released a Netflix documentary about their journey.
KSI thanked his co-stars for their friendship and the memories, noting that the group had been 'a second family' for over 12 years. He urged fans to continue supporting the remaining members, stating they would 'still do amazing things'.
His departure follows his recent success as a permanent judge on Britain's Got Talent, a role he has now made permanent. KSI emphasised that no bad blood prompted his exit, calling it 'completely my own' decision.
