Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel delivered a blistering monologue aimed at former President Donald Trump, ridiculing him for accepting a Nobel Peace Prize medal from its rightful recipient and offering up his own personal trophies in a satirical exchange.
Kimmel Compares Medal to a 'Pacifier'
During the opening of Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night, Kimmel lambasted Trump for the unusual spectacle of receiving the prestigious medal from 2025 Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Machado. The Venezuelan opposition leader presented the medal to Trump on Thursday, 15th January 2026, following weeks of public gratitude for his interventions in her country.
"Rarely does a president yank a Nobel prize off of someone’s neck," Kimmel quipped. He went on to mock Trump's apparent delight, suggesting he was "back in the Oval Office sucking on it like a pacifier." The comedian highlighted the irony of the situation, given that Machado was awarded the prize for leading resistance against former Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, whom the U.S. military abducted in early January 2026.
A Satirical Swap: Trophies for Policy
Kimmel didn't stop at mere mockery. He wheeled out several of his own awards onto the stage, proposing a direct trade with the president. "Mr. President, I have an offer I think you’re going to find difficult to refuse," he teased, showcasing his 1999 Emmy for Best Game Show Host and his 2015 Soul Train Award for White Person of the Year.
His offer, however, came with a significant political condition. "If, and only if, you agree to pull ICE out of Minneapolis and put them back at the borders where they belong, I am prepared to offer you one of the following trophies," Kimmel stated. This directly referenced the widespread backlash against Trump's immigration crackdown in Minneapolis, which intensified after an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good on 7th January 2026.
"The choice is yours," Kimmel concluded, addressing the camera. "I will personally deliver any or even all of these to the Oval Office in exchange for leaving the people of Minneapolis alone."
Machado's 'Gift' and a Warning on Democracy
Kimmel also skewered the meagre reciprocity shown to Machado. Noting that she left the White House with a gift bag after surrendering her medal, he sarcastically imagined the contents: "'Thanks for the Nobel Prize. Here’s a Make America Great Again mug. We appreciate you stopping by.'" He pointed out that despite handing over the award, she departed without the political endorsement she likely sought, as Trump passed her over for the role of Maduro's successor, reportedly furious at not winning the prize himself.
In his finale, Kimmel issued a stark warning, tearing into Trump for suggesting the United States might not need midterm elections in 2026. He outlined a satirical 'master plan', accusing the president of demonising opponents, deploying federal agents to unrequesting cities, and then using the ensuing protests as a pretext to invoke the Insurrection Act and cancel elections. "You take charge for good," Kimmel warned, concluding his pointed critique of the administration's actions.
